Glam Rock
1970s Rockstars and Glam Rock
Glam Rock was popular in the 1970s and was a tradition were rockstars would have fancy outfits and clothing. Here are some examples that I have grabbed from Google images:

Modelling a Glam Rock inspired character
For my Glam Rock character I will be modelling a humanoid mech.
Here are some images that I found on Google of mechs that I will be taking reference from for my own model.
Using Mudbox:
I imported an elephant model from Maya into Mudbox. I used the Sculpting tool to add simple additional features to the model.
I could also use these tools for when I create my own models.
Creating my model:
I will be making my model in Maya.
This is image that I like the most so I will be taking inspiration from this. I will be creating and adding features of Glam Rock to the model such as colourful clothing, sunglasses and a guitar:
Modelling my character in Maya:
I will create my model as one whole object and will detach body parts such as the arms and legs when completed. I will move and rotate the arms and legs to create a stance/pose for the character to hold the guitar once I have also modelled that.
I began creating my Model with a cube. I will be creating the head of the mech and be working my way downwards with the torso, arms and legs.
For the head I created edge loops and extruded the selected faces. I extruded the model inwards for the front of the head and outwards for other features on the outside of the head.
I continued extruding downwards to create the neck and extruded outwards to begin making the torso, starting with the shoulders.
I then modelled the arms and legs.
Now with the full model complete I will now start modelling the guitar and glasses.
For the guitar I will be creating something like this:
I made a thinner, longer rectangle for the part of the guitar that holds the strings.
I then used a cylinder and scaled very thin to create the strings.
I duplicated the cylinders and placed them onto the guitar to create the strings.
To complete the model I duplicated the base of the guitar and scaled it down for the end of the model and made some small cylinders for the tuning nobs.
Here is the completed guitar model:
I am now going to model the sunglasses. I will be taking reference form these images here:
I began the glasses model with a cylinder and scaled it wider.
I then lowered the subdivision axis from 20 to 10 which gives the cylinder less and pointier edges.
I selected the vertexes and scaled them down which creates the star shape.
I flattened the edges by scaling down the vertexes from the side.
The stars will be the lens of the glasses.
I duplicated the star for the 2 lens and made some long cylinders for the bridge and sides of the glasses.
With the 3 separate models complete I will now separate and adjust the arms of the character so he can hold the guitar and wear the sunglasses.
To separate the arms I selected the faces and detached the meshes so that I could move and rotate them without it moving the rest of the model.
Here is my finished model with the glasses and guitar:
